Val Steed graduated from Utah State University where he received both his Bachelors of Science (BS) in Accounting and his Masters of Accounting (MA).

After college, Val worked for Deloitte Haskins and Sells of Salt Lake City, Utah, and then with Hansen, Steed, Bradshaw & Malmrose P.C. of Salt Lake City.  Val was with Hansen, Steed, Bradshaw & Malmrose P.C. for eleven years and was a shareholder for six years before leaving to start K2 Enterprises.  Currently, Val is the CEO of K2 Enterprises which is a national technology training and consulting organization.  He has eleven years experience in public practice and has been involved with information systems and the technology industry for over twenty six years.

Thomas G. Stephens, Jr., received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree (Major in Accounting) from Auburn University in 1985.  Upon graduation, Mr. Stephens began working for an Atlanta-based public accounting firm.  After earning his designation as a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Stephens worked for BellSouth Corporation in Atlanta as an Internal Auditor.  After two years as an auditor, he was promoted to Staff Manager and then Operations Manager of the Internal Audit Group.  In 1991, he transferred to the Comptrollers' department of BellSouth and served as Manager of the Cost Accounting organization.   While working full-time at BellSouth Corporation, Mr. Stephens also attended graduate school, earning a Masters of Science (Major in Finance) from Georgia State University in 1992.

Mr. Stephens left BellSouth in 1994 and opened his public accounting practice in the metropolitan Atlanta area.  In his practice, Mr. Stephens provided accounting, tax, and consulting services to individuals and a wide variety of small and emerging businesses.  As part of his practice, he developed a successful consulting practice providing installation and support services of small business accounting software.  Additionally, he began authoring and presenting continuing professional education courses to accounting and finance professionals.  In 2003, Mr. Stephens affiliated with K2 Enterprises and in 2007 he joined the firm as a partner. To date, he has lectured nationally on subjects such as internal controls for small businesses, practice management and marketing, computer hardware and software applications, tax strategies and compliance, and financial accounting standards and applications.  Over the past thirteen years, Mr. Stephens has presented in excess of 1,100 educational sessions to over 28,000 participants nationwide.

Presently, Mr. Stephens resides in Woodstock, Georgia where, in addition to his association with K2 Enterprises, he provides consulting services to small businesses and CPA firms.  In addition to an active professional career, Mr. Stephens enjoys an active personal life as well.  He and Michelle -- his wife of twenty-four years -- have two children.  His hobbies include snow skiing, fishing, and running.  Additionally, Mr. Stephens is a volunteer with the local school system and is an active member of his church.  He also maintains professional memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a past member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Mac McClelland, an attorney and accounting professional, is an associate of K2 Enterprises of Hammond, Louisiana, and Network Management Group of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Mac was formerly the director of the Centre for Financial Studies at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he lived and worked for seven years from 1990 to 1996. He was also a member of the faculty of the Advanced Business Programme, ranked in the top 100 MBA programs in the world by The Economist, specializing in business strategy and strategic management accounting.

He gained his practical experience in information systems with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and has an established practice in business and technology consulting. Brian Tankersley is a consultant based in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Brian is a frequent speaker at continuing education courses on auditing and technology for K2 Enterprises, and is a senior faculty member with Becker Professional Review.  Brian writes and publishes a nationally recognized blog on accounting and technology (www.cpatechblog.com) and frequently posts articles to the K2 blog on AccountingWeb.com.

Tankersley's areas of practice include accounting systems, taxation, IT consulting, and general business consulting. Prior to forming his own firm Brian practiced in public accounting with both international and local firms, as well as industry.  His public accounting experience includes accounting system implementations, tax returns, financial analysis, inventory costing, and audits of public and private companies.  Brian's industry experience includes retail, financial services, wholesale, and manufacturing.  His information technology experience includes technology strategy, technology management, systems implementation, technical training and documentation

John Keegan is a graduate of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. While in college, John took many computer-programming courses. Ever since, he has used his interest in computers to help make his career as an accountant much more rewarding.

John has been in the accounting field for 25 years. He has worked in organizations ranging in size from a small, family-owned business to one of the largest departments of the U.S. government. In each position, John designed and implemented changes to improve processes. He received a commendation for outstanding performance for his work while at the Department of the Army. During his tenure at a nation-wide food distributor, John received Employee of the Year awards due in part to his use of spreadsheets in tracking and communicating information. Currently, John is the controller in the U.S. location of a large, multi-national company and associate of K2 Enterprises. Both roles give him the great opportunity to learn and apply solutions to real world issues, and help others facing similar situations.

John has earned certifications during his career. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Alan Salmon is recognized as Canada's leading analyst in the area of accounting technology. He has over 27 years of business, management systems, education and journalism experience. As the CEO of K2 Enterprises Canada he is responsible for the Canadian operations of this international consulting group, which provides professional development technology education for CAs, CPAs and accountants across Canada and the US. He has a degree in Science and an Advanced Teaching Certificate from the University of Toronto.

He teaches over 100 seminars a year to the CA, CGA CMA associations in Canada. In 2006 he was the highest rated instructor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, with a rating over of over 94%.

In addition to his seminar teaching, Alan consults with all of the major accounting technology companies. In the last two years he has worked with Microsoft, Sage, Intuit Canada, SAP, SYSPRO, Softrak, Fortune 1000, TelPay and other Canadian technology companies. For the last 14 years he has been the Chairperson for the "Accounting Technology for the 21st Century" seminar series. This free one day seminar is delivered twice a year in 13 Canadian cities and provides public accountants, bookkeepers and consultants with an overview of what's new in technology for accountants. Over 25,000 accountants have attended one of these technology days.

In addition to his consulting, Alan carries out research on accounting technology. He has published 6 books on accounting software and each year, in conjunction with his K2E partners, he develops a series of comparative tables that contrast the feature sets of accounting software. These tables can be viewed at www.k2e.ca.

For the last 24 years Alan wrote for the Bottom Line, Canada's accounting newspaper. His insightful columns on new software and technology were highly rated by his readers.

He is much in demand as a public speaker and travels extensively across Canada and the United States to speak at major computer conferences. He has presented at Comdex, Sage conferences, The Canadian Computer Show, Bottom Line Exhibition, Great Plains Stampede, and the Computer Associates Winter Carnival. He was a featured speaker at the Lions Clubs International World conventions in San Diego and Birmingham, England where he shared his Internet experiences with over 3,000 Lion members.

Alan lives in Brampton, Ontario with his wife Nancy. He has four daughters and nine grandchildren. His major hobby is travel and he has visited over 60 countries and done seven around the world journeys. He has received many awards for teaching and service, including a Paul Harris Fellowship, the Canadian Internet Award and a life membership in Junior Chamber International.

Karl Egnatoff is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) based in the Charleston, West Virginia area. He has worked as a consultant, trainer and programmer related to financial and business technology projects for the past 15 years. Prior to this, Karl worked in public accounting as well as in private sector accounting for a period of approximately six years. In addition to being a CPA, he is also a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP).

Karl is a member of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Information Technology Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has also achieved a number of technology certifications including Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Certified Software Engineer (CSE) and Certified Integration Developer (CID).

During the course of his career, Mr. Egnatoff has owned and operated a number of successful businesses. All of these were business technology entities that provided consulting and training services.  The experience he garnered while with these organizations serves him now as he teaches continuing professional education in association with K2 Enterprises.

Karl graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. During his time in college he participated in division I Cross County competing on the varsity squad. He was also on Marshall's Track team. Karl and his wife Lana live in Milton, West Virginia and have been married for twenty years. They have two sons, Jordan age 18, Steven age 16.
